Melanated PEARL Inc Announces Fundraiser for OysterShell Cohort 2 to Support "Hotel to Home" Rapid Rehousing Program for FY 6 (October 2023 - September 2024)

Hampton, GA - Melanated PEARL Inc,  a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to creating positive change in our community, is thrilled to announce a fundraising campaign in collaboration with OysterShell Cohort 2 and Selected Community Partners. The goal of the campaign is to raise $200,000 to support the implementation of our new rapid rehousing program entitled Hotel to Home. This program aims to select 25 families currently experiencing homelessness and transition them to housing stability. Additionally, the program will provide customized wraparound services for up to 12 months, ensuring the families have the necessary support to thrive.

The rapid rehousing program led by Melanated Pearl, Inc. is an innovative and compassionate approach to tackling homelessness in our community. By providing families with not only secure housing but also the essential services and support they need, the program lays a foundation for their long-term success and stability.

The $200,000 fundraising goal will directly support the operational costs of the rapid rehousing program, including securing housing units, furnishing them, covering essential expenses such as rent and utilities, and wrap-around services . By assisting these families in securing a stable place to call home, we can break the cycle of homelessness and help them build a brighter future.
The OysterShell CCCII Cohort 2 is encouraging community members, businesses, and philanthropic organizations to come together and support this vital cause by making a donation to the campaign. About Melanated PEARL Inc
Melanated Pearl is a nonprofit organization in Clayton County, Georgia, dedicated to empowering and uplifting women of color. As part of this mission, the organization has provided critical support to homeless women and families in the area for the past five years. The organization offers services and programs to address the immediate needs of people experiencing homelessness and housing instability, including emergency rental assistance, transitional housing, job training and placement, mental health and substance abuse counseling, and financial literacy workshops. Melanated Pearl also provides resources for basic needs such as food, clothing, and hygiene. However, Melanated Pearl can better serve the homeless population in Clayton County by consolidating existing initiatives and restructuring services under a Rapid Re-housing strategy. 

• This restructuring aims to provide a more comprehensive and holistic support system to help individuals and families transition from housing instability and move towards self-sufficiency with long-term housing security. With the support of the Board, Melanated Pearl can pivot to providing an elevated level of critical services to homeless individuals and families in Clayton County and work towards creating a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

The OysterShell Collective Community Collaborative Impact Initiative is a community and nonprofit leadership development, networking and partnership group that works collaboratively to address issues that impact the community. Several community partners have joined forces to support Melanated PEARL’s FY 6 Rapid Rehousing Strategy that offers up to 12 months of housing support and wrap-around services to up to 25 families - moving women and families from Hotel to Home!
