Exciting News! Melanated PEARL's founder and CEO, Crystal Perry is thrilled to announce that she is building Community Champions with Hand Heart and Soul Project to serve the SNAP-Ed-eligible audience in Clayton County!
Together, we are dedicated to increasing physical activity and nutrition programming and support in the community. Here are our goals:
Goal 1: Build a Community Champion Program
By February 29, 2024, we aim to develop the Community Champion program curriculum with the support of an existing Clayton County "community champion."
Goal 2: Recruit 10 Potential Community Champions
We are looking for 10 passionate individuals, including youth, adults, and senior citizens, to participate in the program. Join us at the Northwest Library on January XX for our first meeting and make a difference in your community!
Goal 3: Monthly Training and Support
Once selected, community champions will convene for eight monthly meetings. These sessions will provide training and support on various topics, including nutrition education, physical activity, storytelling, building community relationships, social media, and developing messaging.
Goal 4: Action Issues and Micro-Grants
By September 29, 2024, our community champions will identify one or more action issues. To support these initiatives, they will receive micro-grants that will help turn their ideas into reality.
Goal 5: Clayton County Annual Gathering
Save the date! By September 29, 2024, we will host the Clayton County Annual Gathering. This event will bring together Community Champions, members of the Clayton Collaborative, and residents from SNAP-Ed eligible areas. Our aim is to educate community decision-makers about nutrition and physical activity, and together, we will develop an action plan to support the identified action issues.
Join us in making a positive impact in Clayton County! Together, we can create a healthier and more vibrant community. Stay tuned for updates and get ready to be a part of the change! #HandHeartSoulProject #ClaytonCountyCommunityChampions #HealthyLiving
